MEET DONOVAN
Not every hero wears a cape.
Some wear a hospital bracelet.
Donovan was so much more than his cancer diagnosis. He was funny, athletic, outgoing, and had a charismatic charm that drew people to him. A three-sport athlete in high school, he loved sports—especially the Philadelphia Eagles, college basketball, and March Madness. He had a huge personality and could light up a room with his infectious grin, a warm hug, or simply his presence. He also had a way of reminding everyone not to take life too seriously; when things got a little too hectic, Donovan was known to tell us to “simmer down.”
At just 17 years old, Donovan was diagnosed with brain cancer. Over the next two years, he faced unimaginable challenges with courage, strength, humor, dignity, and grace, never losing his positive attitude or an opportunity to make someone laugh.
Donovan passed away in November 2022 at just 19 years old. Donovan’s life was far too short, but the impact he made was not. His infectious smile, unforgettable sense of humor, kindness, and strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Through compassion, community support, and financial assistance, our mission is to help ease the burden on families facing childhood cancer while ensuring Donovan’s spirit continues to inspire hope and strength.

WHY THIS FOUNDATION EXISTS
We understand because we’ve been there.
During Donovan’s cancer journey, our family experienced firsthand the challenges that go far beyond a diagnosis: travel, lodging, meals, lost wages, copays, or other everyday bills can quickly become overwhelming when your child’s treatment is far from home.
The Donovan Kurt Cancer Foundation was created from that experience. Our hope is to ease some of that financial burden for other Maine families, giving them more time and energy to focus on what matters most — being together.
